Once again we are pleased with our GCSE, Cambridge Technical and A level results for the academic year 2024-25 which reflect the hard work of both our pupils and staff.
Our sixth formers worked hard and their grades largely aligned with predictions. Those receiving A* and Distinction* rose for the third consecutive year. Those receiving A and Distinction grades also rose again this year, as have the number receiving B grades, which has improved for the fourth consecutive year.
The overall pass rate at Key Stage 5 was 97% with 42% of pupils receiving A and B grades. Notable subjects were Art where 100% received A*-C; Biology had a 100% pass grade at A-B; Design Technology students all achieved A*; English Literature had a 100% pass rate with all grades C or above, as did Geography; in French there was a 100% pass rate with grades ranging from A-B and in both Mathematics and Physics the pass rate was 80% A-C grades. In the Extended Project Qualification, which is worth half UCAS points, pupils achieved either A* or A grades. Finally, in the Business Cambridge Technical Single Award and Triple Award each pupil achieved either a Distinction*, Distinction or Merit grade.
Traditional A level results are good, but we are particularly proud of our Cambridge Technical achievements. Our investment in delivering these courses sets us apart from other independent schools and provides our pupils with the opportunity to be incredibly successful in non-traditional subjects. Value added is excellent for our sixth form pupils (the progress from the point of entry to leaving).
We are delighted to share the story of one student who joined us for sixth form having completed his GCSEs at a different school, with an average GCSE grade of 2.7, but has now secured an incredible outcome, leaving with the equivalent of AAC in Cambridge Technical Business and a B in Criminology. This remarkable achievement has earned them a place at the University of Surrey to study Criminology, a truly inspirational journey of academic growth and underlining the value added that Bedford Greenacre consistently provides.
Further showcasing the breadth of talent within the school, another student achieved grades of A*AA. This outstanding performance secured their place at the University of Exeter to study Business Management, a fitting reward for their hard work and academic excellence.
In 2025, all our Year 13 students were able to follow their chosen post-18 pathways: 77% secured their first-choice university offers; 14% secured their insurance offers; one student gained a place at UEA through clearing; one accepted a provisional place to study in Spain; one deferred entry until 2026 and one is deciding between a first-choice offer and a degree apprenticeship
In our Sixth Form, we take pride in being more than just an academic institution; student testimonials consistently highlight the support they receive in developing social and life skills, reinforcing our commitment to holistic education.
At Key Stage 4 we were please to record solid results once again. Pass rates at GCSE continue to be high for a non-selective school and far outstrip national averages; English and mathematics were both significantly above national figures. Subjects with a 100% pass rate at 4-9 included French, Music and Design Technology, whilst each of the sciences had high pass rates at 4-9, biology at 94%, chemistry 91% and physics 88%. In further mathematics there was a 91% pass rate at 4-9. These grades are a product of the hard work the pupils put into their studies and the support of staff and parents.
At Bedford Greenacre the importance of a holistic approach to learning and helping pupils to grow personally is always emphasised, helping them to plot a future pathway which gives them the best chance of happiness, security and success.
We are particularly pleased that a number of pupils received multiple grade 9s across a variety of subjects, including English, English Literature, the sciences, geography, drama and music. Particular mention must go to Eva Cookham, Joseph Hodgson and Amy Parrish who each received multiple grade 9s, together with Joshua Ehindero and Cian O’Dowd who each received grade 9 and numerous grade 8s.
We are incredibly proud of our value added statistics and are delighted with the positive impact the standards of teaching have had on pupils of all abilities. We would like to thank all the subject teachers for providing such an excellent teaching and learning experience for our 2025 cohort. Our students continue to achieve well across all subjects, which underlines our broad and balanced curriculum.
