Our Independent Nursery is proud to have provided many years of safe, nurturing, award-winning early years provision to our local community.
Our team provide sensitive, emotional support to your children in these vital early stages of their development. Our Key Person System fosters open, respectful relations with each family, scaffolding their children’s learning and developing life skills.
Our Forest School approach allows children to express themselves and make sense of the world around them.
Early years
foundation stage.
These early years of your child’s experience from birth to age 5 should be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure; supporting their development, care and learning needs.
Your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of Learning and Development.
Children initially develop in 3 Prime Areas…
Communication and Language
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Physical Development
These prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 Specific Areas…
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design
Each child
is unique.
It is critical that the activities and environment are suited to your child, so we use our 7 areas of focus to plan and design your child’s learning and activities to follow their unique needs and interests.
We place a strong emphasis on learning through play experiences. Children in the EYFS learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside.
Our team work together to ensure that all areas are covered through first hand, practical learning experiences.
The three
characteristics.
When planning and guiding what children learn, we reflect on the different rates at which children are developing and adjust our practice appropriately. Three Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning are:
Playing and Exploring
children investigate and experience things, and ‘have a go’.
Active Learning
children concentrate and keep on trying if they encounter difficulties, and enjoy achievements.
Creating and Thinking Critically
children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas, and develop strategies for doing things.
