BGI Sport

The School has a long history of promoting sport for all, having won the Independent Schools Association’s (ISA) award for “Outstanding provision in sport”.

We understand the importance of sport for all abilities and our aim is to instil a love of physical fitness and wellbeing in our pupils and encourage them to maintain an active-body throughout their school years and into adulthood.

Our pupils participate in local fixtures, together with county events.  They also compete in regional events run by the London Region of the ISA.  We host events for the London Region ISA, such as cross-country and athletic competitions.  Each year, many of our pupils go through to the national finals for ISA schools, meaning there are plenty of opportunities for sporting excellence.

In October 2025, we opened our floodlit 3G sports pitch, together with more netball courts, which are just the first steps in creating a ‘sports village’ on our 40-acre site.  Shortly, we will have indoor padel courts on site, which will introduce our pupils to a new opportunity in a sport increasing in popularity.  Our sports hall houses indoor cricket nets, plus all the usual equipment for gymnastics and badminton.

Pupils take part in traditional sports from Reception Class through to Year 11, such as rugby, football, hockey, cricket, netball, cross-country and athletics.  The junior year groups have regular swimming lessons and we offer swimming clubs in the senior years.  Our sixth form students are offered the opportunity to join a local health club, which gives them access to exercise classes, such as yoga and pilates, together with use of a well-equipped gym, swimming pool, spa area and racquet sports.

Sport has been, and always will be, a strong part of the school and we will continue to build on that strength as we introduce more facilities on our new site.

Padel4all

We are delighted to have partnered with Padel4all, to provide an indoor padel centre on our land, which will be opened shortly.  It will serve the local community, but the school will have access to it  for timetabled sports lessons and extra-curricular opportunities for our pupils.

Padel4all share our values, they believe in encouraging an active lifestyle and positive experiences, where they connect communities.

Padel is a great racquets sports suitable for players of any ability.  It is fast-paced and helps to improve cardiovascular endurance, whilst boosting player’s co-ordination.
