Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends
I hope that all the pupils enjoyed their half term break because this first week back has certainly been busy.
I am sure we’re all delighted to finally see the temporary traffic lights taken away along Manton Lane, which has eased the congestion.
The Year 11 pupils have completed a week of core mock examinations, covering the sciences, mathematics and English language. These will give them a good idea of what’s to come in a couple of months’s time, with formal examinations commencing on the 8th May. They must take on board the feedback in order to help with their ongoing revision.
On the subject of feedback, the Education Committee met this week, with governors inviting some of our pupils to discuss various matters with them, including how safe they feel at school and their views on how the transition to the new school has gone. It was reassuring for the governors to hear pupils from the juniors to sixth form all talking extremely positively about their school.
Today, was the official opening of our new site, the final step in the extremely long journey to bring Rushmoor and St Andrew’s together, rebrand and move to more suitable premises for a modern co-educational school. We were honoured to welcome His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester to tour the school and unveil a commemorative plaque. His Royal Highness was met by the junior pupils, listened to our choir, toured a selection of classrooms, enjoyed a light lunch and he then unveiled the plaque in front of the senior pupils.
